The CRI Base

In February of 2019, CRI purchased an 84-acre camp in Blue Ridge, VA. formerly known as “Camp Jaycee.”

Thanks to generous partnership, the property now serves as our headquarters for global relief operations, crisis response training, and administrative offices.

The camp is nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains alongside Jefferson National Forest with views of the historic Blue Ridge Parkway with easy access to the Appalachian Trail.

Our facility enables us to run year-round events, mission schools as well as host retreats, church groups and conferences.

It also enables you to come for an overnight visit, volunteer with our staff or rent camp or book your next personal or church retreat.

Come serve with us at the CRI base as a Mission Ally in areas like farming, hospitality, cooking, groundskeeper, admin, event coordination, training, deployment operations, relief operations, and more.

Short-term volunteers, called “Mission Allies” are welcomed up to thirty days and longer-term volunteers can apply as staff.

Become a Mission Ally

You do not have to be a CRI trained responder to serve as a Mission Ally. However, background checks are required for all participants. Youth under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a legal guardian or parent.

Base Community

We are a missional community of all ages and giftings, living and working together at our global relief headquarters and training center.

We gather for meals corporately and meet daily for prayer and worship. We operate in different roles daily to run the base, our relief operations, farm and host events.

We are in a rural mountain area, and there are many trails nearby if you enjoy the outdoors. The city of Roanoke and shopping is close by.

Personal Retreat (non-volunteers)
$35 per night: shared cabin
$20 per night: RV/camper

Mission Allies: Base Volunteers (up to 30 days)
$12 per night: shared cabin
$12 per night: RV/camper

Meals are lovingly prepared and generously included in the pricing above.
Special pricing is available for group retreats, mission teams, and rentals. See Rentals, Retreats, and Mission Teams page.

We would love to offer you to stay for free, but unfortunately, we cannot use funds designated for disaster relief to cover the expense of volunteer meals, electricity, water, wifi, etc. In the same manner, regarding staff, our heart is to offer an affordable, all-inclusive place to live so they can labor full-time as Crisis Missionaries but we cannot cover staff living expenses.
