Disaster Relief Training and Crisis Response Certification Event

Why Basic Training Camp?

In 2018, the U.S. suffered twelve major disasters that cost our country more than a billion dollars. Events like Hurricanes Florence and Michael, and the fires in Paradise, California were catastrophes on a scale the world has never seen. We, the Church, must become better equipped and prepared to respond to such challenges.

So often in times of crisis and disaster Christians desire to help but do not possess the know-how and often lack the skills necessary to deal with the unique challenges of disaster response.

CRI Basic Training Camp will better equip you to meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of people in crisis and disaster, and mobilize you to bring hope, compassion, and relief by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Who is CRI and why train?

Crisis Response International (CRI) is a nonprofit organization that trains and mobilizes volunteers to respond to disasters and crisis situations around the world. CRI provides a framework for responding to disaster situations and provides trained assistance and delivery of resources to areas that would otherwise be inaccessible to volunteers.

Crisis Response International deploys only volunteers who have completed our basic responder training.

Upon completion of this event, you will become an official CRI Responder (certified volunteer) and will receive CRI response gear and a badge. You will also join the ranks of 10,000 other CRI responders who have trained to deploy with us nationally and abroad when disaster strikes.

What can I expect?

Basic Training Camp is a combination of your favorite summer camp, spiritual retreat and boot camp designed for people of all ages and skill sets.

Your days will begin and end in passionate worship and prayer. Instruction consists of classroom and hands-on training with simulations.

There is plenty of time allotted for fellowship, campfires and fun activities throughout the week as well.

Come expectant and prepared to receive relevant, top-notch training from seasoned instructors. Expect to leave this training better equipped with the practical tools you’ll need to serve others in a disaster, refreshed by God’s presence and having developed new lifelong relationships.

Not only did I learn disaster relief skills, I learned “spiritual relief skills”, too—the care of the souls of victims, as well as the care of my own soul. I “crashed head-on” into the Holy Spirit and I will never be the same. As one season of my life is ending, I truly feel another is beginning. I know I made some life-long friends while training with CRI, and I look forward to future training events and deployments with them.
